Optical Lab

Quality and accuracy is assured as lenses are glazed on site in our own optical lab.

Vision Care has had its own optical lab since the late 1970’s.

Here your spectacles are carefully prepared for by our Optical Lab Technician Gerard McCrory, who has been with Vision Care for over 40years.

Spectacle repairs, adjustments and tinting are also carried out in the lab.

Our up to date Japanese NIDEK computerized scanning and cutting equipment ensures quality and accuracy of lens production to make sure spectacles are made to your exact specifications.

The lab is also linked online to one of the world’s premium lens manufacturers, Hoya Lens Corporation, so that complex lens forms such as designer varifocals can be designed to individual specification and needs. This facility is also vital in producing high power lenses, so that they are made as thin as possible using the latest high tensile, hi- index material available today.

Rimless spectacles are also produced in this way so that they have minimum substance to ensure lightness and strength, while using these very modern lens materials.

Vision Care carry a large stock of standard lenses in the Lab, so sometimes spectacles can be made at Vision Care in an hour.  

Pre-ordered lenses can be cut into your existing frame while you wait. This is a great benefit to those who want to re-glaze their own frame and, are unable to do without them.
